An Observation Regarding DVDs
So, I posted a few DVDs on SwapaDVD over the weekend, and noticed something that, at first, struck me as odd.
I posted a few of what I consider "good" movies, i.e., they fit squarely in the category of "Entertaining" and have good special effects/acting/writing/etc. I also posted some crappy DVDs, the kind I hope I can get rid of. Lo and behold, the crappy DVDs fairly flew out of my queue, while the good ones molder.
I was confused about this until I gave it some thought. Of course, a movie like Payback or The Saint is going to show up on cable or network television quite often; if you really want to see it, you can just wait a little while, and be reasonable assured it'll be on some channel somewhere. On the other hand, how often do they play a movie like Princess Warrior or The Eye of the Serpent? Not very often, let me tell you! So these connoisseurs obviously figure to find stuff they'll otherwise have a hard time watching.
Now I know what kind of movies I need to stock as trade-bait. Those two movies cost me $5 total, some five or six years ago...
